To do or not to do.....

Fall......the busiest time of the year it seems.  As the steam from a cup of   coffee, gently tickles my face and the sun shines brightly, the winds are   pushing the smoke from the valley floor, I contemplate the 'list'.  You know  what I'm talking about, that list of all the things that need to be done, yet   there never seems time for all of it. The list that is laughingly called the to  do list, yet many have less than flattering names for.

As we  age, we feel the need to write everything down, so as not to forget. Yet we  never truly forget, the 'list' is always on our minds.  To cope with all the  things that need to be done, priorities bring some to the forefront and push  those least favorite to the back of our minds.  Yet they are still there,   lurking, waiting to pounce and weigh us down.
So as our list always grows to our disbelief, we know that we are only two and it may be impossible to do all that we have demanded of ourselves. So as fall peaks around the corner - gently reminding us of time our constraints, we rush to accomplish just one more thing.  You feel guilty, overwhelmed, sometimes even depressed.   Our evenings become our little white flag, surrendring to the day, a day of things left undone and we fall to our beds in defeat. How is it that we continuously set responsibilities and the proverbial chores, adding yet more to a list that we know is beyond our capacity to accomplish? One more 'I have to get this done!', adds another burden to our already sagging shoulders.  How do you cope?  What do you do, when your list seems to always get the better of you?

                                     BREATHE................simply breathe.

Understand that regardless of the 'list', the sun will still shine when the  clouds bow out gracefully.  Know that the fall colors will still dance as the wind chases the sky in its never ending courtship.  Winter will come with its deep white blanket wrapping us protectively in our homes, as we snuggle down with a good book after a day of caring for livestock or bringing in wood for the fire.  As the sun sets earlier and earlier, the hot cup of mulled cider brings a wicked little grin to our faces.  And we breathe.

Life doesn't acknowledge fair. Fate has never considered the concept of comfort. Peace is not a commodity that one buys.  Mean people don't care what happens in your life and raging at the world will not change one thing.  But understanding that you are human, that tomorrow will still come whether you are  there to greet it or you chose to hide under your pillows.  Chaos can't be  controlled, but how you handle it............now that is something we all can  do.

Many say God never gives you more than you can handle.  Yet who among us has not felt our 'burdens' too much to bear?  I would be lying if I said, not me!  We, ourselves, have often teased that our birth certificates do not list the name Job. But think about that statement. There is no scripture that says that.  What the bible does say is that 'God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear and will provide a way out'.  (paraphrased 1 Corinthians 10:13).  We are given a choice when life happens, and you know life always happens.  We have the choice to 'bear our burdens' or trust God. Loving God and believing in God will not prevent life's difficulties, but letting go and trusting that God is in control will allow you to breathe. God never asked us to like what happens to us, He has never required us to understand His will, all He has ever required of us, is our faith.  Faith in Him, trusting in God, and acknowledging that He is in control.

So as you add one more thing to your 'list' how will you handle the end of the day? Will you turn life into a burden to be suffered, or will you live your life to the best of your ability and simply..............breathe?

May joy be found in all that you do.......
