Sourdough is a wonderful, healthy, chemical free treat for the carb lovers in us all.
Stores use chemical products to 'force' the sour flavor that most people find with commercial breads. Do you really want to eat the chemical dense, heartburn waiting to happen, bread? Homemade has a far better flavor, and is by far healthier for you and your family.
So, what are you waiting for?
Let's get started on that starter (sponge)!
First off, utensils' you'll need:
wooden spoon and spatula
glass measuring cup
measuring spoons, 1 tsp and 1 TBSP
Ingredients you'll need:
2 TBSP or 2 pkg of organic yeast (yes there is such a thing)
2 cups unbleached, unbromated, non GMO flour
1 TBSP raw, organic honey
1 1/2 cups of good old fashioned, untreated well water 100*-110*
Now it's time to start your sourdough sponge:
Next, add 2 cups of safe, chemical free, unbleached flour to your water yeast honey. Mix this well, it will be thick, scraping the sides of the bowl.
