Quiet evening in the storm

The sun has long since set, wrapping us in a star filled sky.  Rumbling thunder echo's in the distance  as the stars slowly wink out one by one.  The winds are coming!  Oh, how the wind starts dancing through the trees.

Drops of wet wonder sing on the metal roof announcing the rains arrival.  Slowly the storm takes control as the wind changes it's tempo in the night.  Wrapping ourselves in down blankets we let the night sing it's lullaby.

Visions of the day replay in our minds - how the sun felt on our
shoulders, or how the kids danced among the stumps & trees in the paddock.  The smell of the lilacs in all their shades of blue, purple, red, and white....................
Spring has finally arrived to us...............garden plans tickle our
thoughts as our eyes slowly close for the day.  Oh how tired we feel.....so much done, yet so much left to do.  But the night demands our attention, or our lack of wandering minds.
Tomorrow is another day...filled with enough for tomorrow.
"ENOUGH for NOW" the night whispers.  Eyes continue their downward motion, our thoughts like candles are blown out by the storm's wind.  The darkness closes in, causing our shoulders to relax and our breathing to slow.

The storm picks up momentum as it gathers our cares and  carries them away with the rain.  The wind and rain continue to serenade us, as we wrap ourselves in this nights safe comfort.  Sighs like a
gentle breeze escape lips that curl into a dreamers' smile. The rain continues to wash away our thoughts as we descend into  sleep.

The bed fills with cats curling around our hips, thinking us their personal pillows, as our dogs find their places around our feet.  How peaceful this night's storm makes  us.  How the storm tucks us in this night..........dreams dancing in the wind, rain washing our thoughts away,  even as the thunder tells us bedtime stories of all that it has seen.

Such a quiet night this stormy night...........

Sweet dreams.............
Brenda Lee
