 What choice do you make?

12/5/2015

Choices, we all have them.  Covering our day to day lives – should we do this today, or this needs to be done soon.  Constantly making the ‘easy’ choices, you know the ones that just affect you and yours for the most part.  Or those that affect your kid critters or family and friends.

Then there are the harder choices that would affect your neighbors, your community. Voting is one such choice. Than the hardest choices, those that would bring life or death – such as this medical treatment or that one, or not at all.  Whoa, not something you wanted to think about today while having your cup of coffee or tea was it?

But choices can shape who we are, not just as an individual, but as a community, as a State, as a Nation, even as a world.

So let’s look at two choices that each and every one of us can make. Very simple choices really, yet the most difficult ones you will ever experience.  There is no right or wrong choice here; there is only a decision to be made on your part and ours. They don’t involve what flavor your latte is today, or whether you call in sick at work.

These choices don’t have a color.  They aren’t Muslim or Christian, or Jewish, or any religion at all.  They don’t have a Nationality, nor even a language of their own.  They aren’t segregated by someone’s gender or even by someone’s age.  The choices don’t involve gun control or 2nd Amendment rights.  They aren’t distinguished by a political party or any affiliation you can think of.

The choices we speak of have no boundaries what so ever, yet these two simple choices can change the world.  In fact, these choices have affected history since the very beginning………starting wars and ending them. These choices have caused death and birth and every shade between. Two simple choices……..

We can choose to love or to hate, that it’s, two simple choices.

Which choice do you make?

Blessings

Hot as Heck, than add a little hell......

Ok, ok, we see many of you rolling your eyes as we complain about the 90’s & 100’s  we’ve been having all summer, but hot for you can be a world away from hot for us.  It’s all in perspective, what your ‘neck of the woods’ is like normally when compared to ours.

So, how was our summer compared to ‘our normal’? Way to hot, far too dry, and all for far too long!  Let’s talk about it from our standpoint.

True isn't it?  You can plan and plan until everything is just so, perfectly mapping every second, then............. (Thought there would be a 'BUT' didn't you?)  The proverbial 'sh**' hits the fan! You all know what we're talking about.  Everyone of us has had it happen, more than once too..........So what do you do when everything that could go wrong, does just that?

Herd reduction?  NO WAY!

One thing about goats, one is NEVER ENOUGH!  But good blood lines, now there is a reason to increase your herd.  Our anticipation mounts as we wait to see what Pricker Patch Farms Ida & Serena Kinders Gus (aka Jose) gives Kim this kidding season.

Though we must confess, we REALLY are falling in love with her newest line of first generation Kinder doelings out of Lands-End Mandisa's Maddie &  Dinsmore Farm Bad Karma. OH, how we dream...................

So, like us, you all gaze at the kid pics and start dreaming, and planning, and well yes - even praying for more.  Even as we start planning our kid crop for next year, we dream of another buck to further our program.  Doe?  How many would fit in our barn?

Needless to say, one is truly never enough, but once the goat bug bites............you'll NEVER have enough!

Waiting.....not so patiently.....

As the grandfather clock chimes in, ding-dong, ding-dong.........we sigh tiredly.  It's 2 am and we're still awake.  Jolted out of a 'not so light sleep' with every sound the monitor makes.

We can  hear Naavah moaning as she chews her cud in the barn.  She still has two weeks to go, yet she is near to bursting with baby belly.

Davi cries softly, not happy with her injured hoof, nor with the wrappings that are keeping it clean until it heals.

We hear the rain on the monitor, sounding like yet another ice & sleet rain.  Mother nature refusing to release us to spring, so jealous is she of winter's season.  And yet we wait.....

Summer Comes.....Summer Goes

As the first frost of the season comes a little late this year, with another frost scheduled next week, we strive to finish the garden
and other pre-winter chores.  How often the 'rush' of our short season forces us to wipe our brows as another item pops into our head needing to be added to our 'to do list'.

The chaos of the growing season leaves us tired, yet satisfied with
canning in full swing, dehydrating following a close second, and everything else that needs to be done - soon.....yet.....

to Bailey with love.........

Here it is, time again for your birthday!  All the things that happen in our lives can be a gift left unnoticed, or simply not thought of as life happens.  Life isn't always what we think it should be, or what we deserve or not deserve.

So many times when a birthday arrives, people think of all the gifts
money can buy - especially as people think, "What can I get for so and so's  birthday?". In life, sometimes what money can buy isn't what is important or what is cherished.  People struggle to pick out the PERFECT birthday gift.   So on your birthday quickly approaches, we thought we would tell you what our 'vision' of the perfect gift is:

Unconditional love, knowing that no matter what someone loves you.  You don't have to be perfect, you just have to be you.  You don't hear, "If you love me you would......or if you love me you wouldn't.........", but you hear just simply, "I love you".

Knowing that no matter what life throws at you, you'll be ok.  It may take a while to work through it all, but in the end you're alright. You may be changed because of one thing or another, but your still here and your growing into the amazing person you've always been - there is just MORE to you now, never less.

Understanding that you are strong.  Strong enough to grow and flourish even though life is tough sometimes.  Not necessarily 'seeing the light at the end of the tunnel' but running that obstacle course no matter how hard it is and crossing that finish line,
then realizing you won!

Having peace.  The peace to know you are who you are meant to be, not what everyone thinks you should be.  Having the peace and time to find out who you are, and realizing you really like who you have become.  The peace of knowing you aren't like everyone else and its ok.

All these precious gifts we want for you............
...................because that is our gift in life, YOU!

always & forever

What a difference a day makes.........

8/11/2013

As the days fill with normal temperatures of low 80's, (or better yet - 70's we wish), the blue sky lasts forever as it organizes the clouds for its latest show.  We finish some yard work and walk away tiredly satisfied with the day.

The smoke reminds us that fire season is here, as evacuations take
place in so many areas. How grateful we are to be away from the fires, even as the smoke travels to our valley.

Rain.........didn't we talk about the rainy April & May?  Oh how things change.  The winds pick up with the dry weather and the breeze turns the tall green grass into instant fire starter. One of the  prices we pay for living here.  As we weigh the price, we count the many blessings too.

Than the very next day, comes more rain, not a lot, but what changes a day makes! So, the unusual heat wave of 80's (yikes - yes you laugh, but far too hot for us), then here we are ready to  start a fire and cozy up thankful for its warmth..........24 hours......that was all. Blessed 50's, cool, cool weather. Rain to wash the smoke away.
Not enough to stop the fires, but those fighting or fleeing the fires
take a big sigh with this blessing just the same.

Tomorrow?  Who  knows.........but tomorrow is just that, tomorrow.  A whole new day to cherish or curse.  The choice is ours.  Life has challenges enough without us adding to the mix.
So, we plan on cherishing tomorrow, regardless of what tomorrow
brings.

                       Tomorrow?  What do you think.........

Quiet evening in the storm

5/30/2013

The sun has long since set, wrapping us in a star filled sky.  Rumbling thunder echo's in the distance  as the stars slowly wink out one by one.  The winds are coming!  Oh, how the wind starts dancing through the trees.

Drops of wet wonder sing on the metal roof announcing the rains arrival.  Slowly the storm takes control as the wind changes it's tempo in the night.  Wrapping ourselves in down blankets we let the night sing it's lullaby.

Visions of the day replay in our minds - how the sun felt on our
shoulders, or how the kids danced among the stumps & trees in the paddock.  The smell of the lilacs in all their shades of blue, purple, red, and white....................

Spring has sprung! With Snow?

4/25/2013

Often as we sit, enjoying a cup of coffee, we run the famous 'to do' list in our minds.  Discussing our day before it has even begun.
As we hear from one friend or another, how their fall planting has
overwintered, or smiling as they talk about the vegetables already growing in their gardens.  We simply sigh as we gaze out our window and welcome our day with 2 inches of snow and a 'balmy'
26 degrees.

Snow in April?  We must  confess that we have seen snow every month of the year here. BRRRRRRRRRRR we hear you say..
.....yes, it can be, but our  valley makes up for it - even if the growing season is a short 90 days!  Montana has a way about itself, with 5 am sunrises and 10 pm sunsets in the summer. So many wonderful lakes so very close or just deer grazing in our very back yard.  Pink tint to the snow decked mountains to end our days.  The quiet woods a short walk from home, were peace is in abundance and the sky lasts forever on a sunny day.  Eagles living in the tree out back and a resident owl every summer.
