...where the new is laced together with the old & the past surrounds everything we are and will be.
Montana is the place where simple living is the norm & the old ways are

For we walk by faith, not by sight....... 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NASB)
about us..........
After many years of poor health, we decided to get back to the basics.
Literally, starting over from scratch. We not only wanted to grow our own food, but to raise our own meat and milk. After considering cows, pigs, and other farm animals, goats became a focal point. We found a source of goat's milk. We liked the milk, we even enjoyed making soft cheeses and soap. Now the hard part - we struggled trying to find the 'perfect goat'. We had goats in the past, but never really knew anything about them. We had never milked them, never eaten the meat, so were goats really an option for us?
Then one day, in an issue of Backwoods Home Magazine, there was an article about a newer breed of goat called a Kinder goat.
http://www.backwoodshome.com/articles2/sanderson95.html.
What an amazing breed it was! Could we even find any Kinder goats? We found breeders in Washington and Oregon, but really nowhere close by. Could we afford to buy our goats and ship them in? No, not now. Then one day there was an ad in the local paper, two doelings for sale: Nubian and Pygmy crosses. Could it be true? Yes it was, and off to the races we went! What we found was nothing short of a miracle. Smart, small and easy to handle, easier hoof trimming. Our first two led us on a wild journey. We JUST HAD TO HAVE MORE! It was still not affordable to buy them. Shipping alone would 'break the bank' as the saying goes. So we purchased our Pygmy goat, Hot Shot, and our Nubian, Honey Bee. We crossed our fingers and prayed, and smiled when the blood test showed that yes, our Miss Honey Bee was indeed pregnant. Through the years, we have found that everything we read was true about the Kinder goats.
The Kinder name has since been trademarked by the KGBA, so unless they can be registered with the KGBA, they can't be called a Kinder goat, even if the line was started with a Nubian doe and a Pygmy buck. Our unregistered line is at the second (F2) generation. We call them our Montana Homestead Goats. Because we have chosen to sell registered Kinders as well, we purchased a registered Kinder buck and three registered Kinder does. We love ALL of our goats and are proud to offer both our Montana Homestead & Kinder goats.

Love is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NKJV
